My Fifth-Life Crisis

Have you ever felt like you were trapped in the past? Like you don’t belong in the current city or the current job you’re in? That’s what I’m feeling.

My job? Been there, done that (for three years).

My apartment? Give me a new piece of scenery, please! (Oh, and some new roommates).

The town I Live in? East Lansing was once cool, until I became a college grad…Can you say “nothing to do?”

My friends and family? Okay, I definitely will never get bored of them, they can stay.

Since graduating from Michigan State University, I’ve been yearning for something more. Something new – A new adventure, a new experience, a new view, a new crowd.

Luckily, in August, I will be starting my dietetic internship at Prairie View A&M University near Houston, Texas. That’s something new to look forward to! Except it’s months away… (By the way, I’m probably the most impatient person. Ever).

One thing about me, is that I live in the moment. Everyone says, “But Carrie, you’ve got this great opportunity to look forward to!” True, but I take things day by day. Events usually don’t excite me until the week or day of. Besides the awesome BigTen 10k that I’ll be running on July 26th (But that’s different, duh).

I guess I’m just ready to move on with the next chapter of my life instead of feeling tied down in the same routine that I am BEYOND familiar with. But, one step further was taken just a few days ago! Victoria and I locked down our future apartment in Houston!

It took us a while to compare apartments in the area, but we finally found one that fits our criteria the most. At the Landmark at City Park, we will be about twenty minutes away from the inner loop of Houston and all of our rotations sites (Hospitals, retirement homes, school districts, Head Start facilities, etc.) Finally some excitement!

So with this, I am very excited to what will come next and am looking toward the future with great positivity. My time will come soon, so as of now I’m living in the moment, traveling as much as I can, and also putting in the last bit of my time at my current job. (Motivation comes from the day I put my two weeks notice in!)

7.5 weeks until new adventures! But hey, who’s counting? 😉

I’m so glad you are keeping your family! Hang in there! Change will come soon enough!
